Thiosemicarbazide tablets

This product is an anti-tuberculosis drug. It has an antibacterial effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which may be related to the drug's inhibition of mycobacterial nucleic acid synthesis and the formation of an active complex with copper. The minimum inhibitory concentration of this product against Mycobacterium tuberculosis is 1 mg/L, and its antibacterial effect is inferior to that of sodium para-aminosalicylate. About 30% of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains can develop resistance to this product after using this drug alone for 4-6 months.

4-Acetamidobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone

This product is white or slightly yellow tablets.

It is used in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs for lymph node tuberculosis, mucosal tuberculosis (such as laryngeal tuberculosis, intestinal tuberculosis) and infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis.

Oral administration. The initial daily dose for adults is 25-50 mg, which can be gradually increased to 100-150 mg per day. For children weighing less than 10 kg, the daily dose is 25 mg, for those weighing 10-20 kg, the daily dose is 50 mg, and for those weighing 20-40 kg, the daily dose is 100 mg. It can be taken in 2-3 doses or all at once.

1. Gastrointestinal symptoms: Gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are the most common. 2. Hepatotoxicity: Severe liver damage accompanied by jaundice may occur, occasionally fatal; more common in patients receiving isoniazid treatment at the same time. 3. Blood system: manifested as bone marrow suppression such as granulocytopenia and thrombocytopenia; hemolytic anemia may also occur. 4. Ototoxicity: Dizziness, vertigo, ataxia, tinnitus and even deafness may occur. 5. Allergic reactions: Rashes may occur, occasionally exfoliative dermatitis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome (erythema multiforme erosive, seen on the skin, mouth, nasal mucosa and conjunctiva). 6. Kidney damage: Protein, casts, red blood cells and increased blood urea nitrogen appear in the urine. The adverse reactions of thiosemicarbazide are related to the dose. It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this product, have liver and kidney dysfunction, diabetes and anemia.

1. It should not be used in combination with streptomycin, as it can increase the toxic effect on the vestibule. 2. It should not be used simultaneously with aminopyrine, chloramphenicol, etc., to prevent the increase of hematopoietic system toxicity. 3. It has one-way cross-resistance with ethionamide or propylthionamide, that is, those who are resistant to this drug are still sensitive to ethionamide or propylthionamide, while those who are resistant to ethionamide or propylthionamide are no longer sensitive to this drug. 4. It can be used in combination with isoniazid to prevent the occurrence of isoniazid-resistant bacteria. 5. Adding a small amount of copper sulfate can increase the efficacy.
