Intestinal tuberculosis
Intestinal tuberculosis is the most common type of tuberculosis in the digestive system. Most of them are secondary to extraintestinal tuberculosis, especially cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis. According to statistics, 25% to 50% of pulmonary tuberculosis patients may have intestinal tuberculosis. The source of intestinal tuberculosis is mainly ingestion, caused by swallowing sputum containing tubercle bacilli, occasionally from food contaminated by tuberculosis bacilli, or from blood or direct spread of tuberculosis in other organs of the abdomen and pelvis. The age of onset is mostly young and middle-aged, and there are more women than men, about 1.85:1. Pathologically, it is divided into three types: ulcerative type, hyperplastic type and mixed type.
