Cimetidine tablets
Function and Efficacy
1 Pharmacology: It mainly acts on H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells, competitively inhibiting histamine, inhibiting basal gastric acid secretion, and also inhibiting gastric acid secretion stimulated by food, pentagastrin, caffeine and insulin; 2 Toxicology: Acute LD50: 3190-3280 mg/kg for oral administration to mice and 5840-7500 mg/kg for oral administration to rats. Subacute and chronic toxicity tests on rats and dogs have shown that this product has a mild anti-androgenic effect, causing a decrease in the weight of the prostate and seminal vesicles and milk secretion, but this disappears after drug withdrawal. It has no mutagenic, carcinogenic, or teratogenic effects, and is also non-dependent and non-tolerant.

Drug Interactions
1. When used in combination with antacids, it has a synergistic effect in relieving pain in duodenal ulcers, but the absorption of cimetidine may be reduced, so it is generally not recommended. If it must be used in combination with antacids, the two should be taken at least 1 hour apart; 2. Taking metoclopramide (Metoclopramide) with this product at the same time can reduce the blood concentration of this product, and the dose of this product needs to be appropriately increased; 3. Since sucralfate needs to be hydrolyzed by gastric acid to work, this product inhibits gastric acid secretion, and the combination of the two may reduce the efficacy of sucralfate; 4. This product inhibits the oxidative metabolic pathway catalyzed by cytochrome P450 and can reduce liver blood flow. Therefore, when used in combination with other drugs, this product can reduce their metabolism and enhance their pharmacological activity or toxicity. These drugs include: benzodiazepines; coumarin anticoagulants; phenytoin sodium or other hydantoin drugs; propranolol, metoprolol, metronidazole; theophylline, caffeine, aminophylline; verapamil (Isapamil); quinidine; polycaine, tricyclic antidepressants; opioids, etc.; 5 Because this product increases the pH value of gastric juice, when used in combination with tetracycline, it may cause the dissolution rate of tetracycline to decrease, absorption to decrease, and the effect to weaken (but the hepatic enzyme inhibitory effect of this product may increase the blood concentration of tetracycline); if used in combination with aspirin, the opposite result will occur, and the effect of aspirin may be enhanced; 6 Combination with ketoconazole may interfere with the latter's absorption and reduce its antifungal activity, but taking some acidic beverages at the same time can avoid the above changes; 7 Combination of this product with captopril may cause mental symptoms; 8 Because this product has a myoneural blocking effect similar to that of aminoglycoside antibiotics, combined use may cause respiratory depression or respiratory arrest.
