Dextromethorphan guaifenesin syrup
Function and Efficacy
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a centrally acting antitussive that can inhibit the cough center in the medulla oblongata to produce an antitussive effect. Its antitussive effect is equal to or slightly stronger than that of codeine, and there is no dependence or tolerance when taken for a long time. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that can increase the secretion of respiratory glands, dilute sputum, and make it easier to cough up.
Ingredients
This product is a compound preparation. Each 10 ml contains 15 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide and 100 mg of guaifenesin. The excipients are: glycerin, propylene glycol, sorbitol solution, simple syrup, anhydrous citric acid, sodium benzoate, brilliant blue pigment, cool berry mint flavor and purified water.

Appearance

Indication
For upper respiratory tract infections (such as the common cold and influenza), coughs and expectoration caused by bronchitis
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration. Children over 12 years old and adults take 10-20 ml at a time, 3 times a day, no more than 4 times in 24 hours
Adverse Reactions
1. Dizziness, headache, drowsiness, irritability, belching, lack of appetite, constipation, nausea, skin allergies, etc. may occur, and the above reactions may disappear on their own after stopping the drug. 2. Insomnia, hypermotor function, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, itching, rash, urticaria, angioedema or other hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Precautions
1. Patients who are allergic to dextromethorphan hydrobromide or guaifenesin are contraindicated. 2. Women who are within 3 months of pregnancy are contraindicated. 3. Patients who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI, used for antidepressants and treatment of Parkinson's disease, etc.) or who have stopped MAOI treatment within 2 weeks are contraindicated.
Special Population Medication
Precautions during pregnancy and lactation: It is forbidden for women within 3 months of pregnancy.
Drug Interactions
1. This product may cause adverse reactions when taken with antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors, so it should be avoided. 2. This product should not be used with ethanol and other central nervous system depressants because it can enhance the inhibitory effect on the central nervous system. 3.
