Cefetamet Pivoxil Hydrochloride Tablets

This product is an oral third-generation broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic. This product has strong antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus (except faecal Streptococcus) and Streptococcus pneumoniae; Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, especially against Serratia, indole-positive Proteus, Enterobacter, and Citrobacter, which are less sensitive to first- and second-generation cephalosporins. It is stable to β-lactamase produced by bacteria. However, this product is ineffective against drug-resistant microorganisms such as Pseudomonas, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, and Enterococcus.

The main ingredient of this product is: Cefetamet Pivoxil Hydrochloride. Its chemical name is: (6R,7R)-3-methyl-7-[(Z)-2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-2-(methoxyimino)-acetylamino]-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid pivaloyloxymethyl ester hydrochloride.

This product is a film-coated tablet, which is off-white or light yellow after removing the coating.

This product is suitable for the following infections caused by sensitive bacteria. 1. Ear, nose and throat infections, such as otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, etc. 2. Lower respiratory tract infections, such as acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, acute tracheitis, acute bronchitis, etc. 3. Urinary system infections, such as uncomplicated urinary tract infections, complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), male acute gonococcal urethritis, etc.

1 Oral administration: Oral administration within 1 hour before or after meals. For adults and children over 12 years old, 500 mg once, twice a day; for children under 12 years old, 10 mg/kg of body weight each time, twice a day. For adults with complicated urinary tract infection, the entire daily dose is taken once within 1 hour before or after dinner; for male patients with gonococcal urethritis and female patients with uncomplicated cystitis, a single dose of 1500-2000 mg once within 1 hour before or after meals (in the evening for patients with cystitis) can fully eradicate the pathogen. 2 Dosage adjustment (1) Elderly: The recommended adult dosage can be used. No adjustment is required for the elderly. (2) Children under 12 years old: 10 mg per kilogram of body weight each time, twice a day is the standard. The dosage adjustment is as follows: For those weighing less than 15 kg, it is recommended to use other dosage forms; for those weighing 16-30 kg, 250 mg once; for those weighing 31-40 kg, 250-500 mg once; for those weighing more than 40 kg, 500 mg once. (3) Adult patients with renal failure: For patients with creatinine clearance greater than 40 ml/min, use 500 mg once every 12 hours; for patients with creatinine clearance between 10 and 40 ml/min, use 125 mg once every 12 hours; for patients with creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min, first use 500 mg once, then change to 125 mg once a day.

1. Digestive system: mainly diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Occasionally, there may be pseudomembranous colitis, abdominal distension, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, increased bilirubin in the blood, transient increase in transaminase, etc. 2. Skin reactions: Occasionally, there may be itching, local edema, purpura, rash, etc. 3. Central nervous system reactions: Occasionally, there may be headache, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, etc. 4. Blood system reactions: Occasionally, there may be leukopenia, eosinophilia, thrombocytosis, etc., all of which are transient reactions. 5. Other rare reactions: gingivitis, proctitis, conjunctivitis, drug fever, etc.

It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to cephalosporins.

Precautions for children: There is no reliable clinical data on the effectiveness and safety of this product for newborns. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. Due to the lack of clinical data on human fetuses, this product is not recommended for use during pregnancy. If there is a serious infection with microorganisms sensitive to this drug, the possible risks and benefits must be fully weighed. 2. No metabolites of this product have been found in breast milk. Precautions for the elderly: The recommended adult dosage is suitable for elderly patients, and no dosage adjustment is required for elderly patients.

Antacids and H2 receptor antagonists have no effect on the pharmacokinetics of this product. So far, there have been no reports of this product affecting laboratory test values and/or methods, and no damage to renal function has been observed in patients receiving concomitant diuretic therapy when using this product.
