Light calcium carbonate (Calcium Carbonate Light), also known as precipitated calcium carbonate (Calcium Carbonate Precipitated, referred to as PCC). Light calcium carbonate is prepared by chemical processing method. Because of its settlement volume (2.4-2.8mL/g) than the mechanical method of production of heavy calcium carbonate sedimentation volume (1.1-1.9mL/g), it is called light calcium carbonate.

The reaction with concentrated solutions of acids is rapid and exothermic. The effervesence can create extensive foaming. Ignites on contact with fluorine.
