Description
Ammonium carbonate, chemical formula (NH4) 2. CO3. Colorless cubic crystal, often containing 1 molecules of crystallization water; soluble in water, aqueous solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol, carbon disulfide and concentrated ammonia. Instability in the air, will gradually become ammonium hydrogen carbonate and ammonium carbamate. Dry matter is easily decomposed at 58 DEG C, releasing ammonia and carbon dioxide. The solution begins to decompose at 70. Unstable to light and heat. Slightly hygroscopic.
