DescriptionAlso known as precipitated calcium carbonate, calcium carbonate is referred to as, limestone and other raw materials of calcined lime (mainly calcium oxide) and carbon dioxide, and water digestion lime lime (mainly calcium hydroxide), and then pass into the carbonization of milk of lime to produce calcium carbonate carbon dioxide precipitation, finally by dehydration, drying and crushing the system. Well. Or by double decomposition reaction of sodium carbonate and calcium chloride, precipitated calcium carbonate, and then dehydrated, dried and crushed. Because the precipitated volume (2.4-2.8mL/g) of light calcium carbonate is larger than the settling volume (1.1-1.4mL/g) of heavy calcium carbonate, it is called light calcium carbonate.
Properties: white powder. Tasteless and odourless. The specific gravity is about 2.71. In 825 ~ 896.6º, C decomposition. Melting point 1339º C. There are two forms of amorphous and crystalline form, crystalline form can be divided into orthorhombic and six square crystal system, column or diamond. Insoluble in water and alcohol. Soluble in acid and emitting carbon dioxide at the same time giving exothermic reactions. It is also soluble in ammonium chloride solution. Stable in the air and slightly hygroscopic.
Application: it can be used as filler for rubber, plastic, paper making, coating and printing ink. Widely used in organic synthesis, metallurgy, glass and asbestos production. It can also be used as a kind of medium for industrial waste water, an antacid for stomach and duodenal ulcer, an antidote for acidosis, a SO2 remover containing SO2 waste gas, a feed additive for dairy cows and an anti viscosity agent for oil felt. Can also be used as a dentifrice, toothpaste and other cosmetics raw materials.Basic Info-

Air and Water Reactions:No rapid reaction with air No rapid reaction with water
Reactive Group:Carbonate Salts
Reactivity Profile:CALCIUM CARBONATE is non-combustible. Decomposes at high temperature (825°C) to give gaseous carbon dioxide and calcium oxide (quicklime). Incompatible with acids, alum, ammonium salts, fluorine, magnesium. Reacts with acids and acidic salts to generate gaseous carbon dioxide with effervescence (bubbling). The reaction with concentrated solutions of acids is rapid and exothermic. The effervesence can create extensive foaming. Ignites on contact with fluorine.
Flammable Limits:Noncombustible Solid
Corrosivity:Non-corrosive
