According to the type of binders in coatings, water-based coatings are divided into two categories: natural water-based coatings of natural substances or minerals (such as potassium silicate) and petrochemical water-based coatings of synthetic resins (such as acrylic resins). Only the water-based paints of synthetic resins are explained here.
Water-based paints include water-soluble paints, water-reducible paints, and water-dispersible paints (latex paints).
