It has a role as a human metabolite, a Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite, an Escherichia coli metabolite and a mouse metabolite. It derives from a uracil.|Deoxyuridine is a nucleoside consisting of uracil and deoxyribose, which can act as an intermediate in thymidine synthesis. Deoxyuridine (dU) is used to indirectly determine if there are sufficient levels of folate and cobalamin in cell or tissue samples.|2'-Deoxyuridine. An antimetabolite that is converted to deoxyuridine triphosphate during DNA synthesis.
