Soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid is greenish-blue, and forms black precipitate after dilution. C.I. Sulphur Black 1 has a molecular weight of 184.11, a density of 1.87 g/cm ³, and a flash point of 353.1 degrees Celsius. Using 2, 4-dinitrochlorobenzene as raw material, 2, 4-dinitrophenol sodium salt is hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions, and then vulcanized with sodium polysulfide solution, oxidized, filtered, and dried to produce C.I. Sulphur Black 1. C.I. Sulphur Black 1 is a highly consumed sulphur dye used for dyeing cotton, vinylon/cotton blends, hemp, and viscose fibers. Compared with direct dyes and reactive dyes, vulcanized black has better dyeing rate and evenness, good blackness and good washing fastness.
