Capecitabine is rapidly absorbed through intestinal mucosa after oral administration, and then converted into inactive intermediate 5 '- deoxy-5' fluorocytidine by carboxylesterase in the liver. Later, it is converted into 5 '- deoxy-5' fluorouridine by cytidine deaminase in the liver and tumor tissue. Finally, it acts as fluorouracil (5-FU) catalyzed by thymidine phosphorylase in the tumor tissue.

The concentration of 5-FU in blood and muscle tissue after oral administration was significantly higher than that in clinical study. The curative effect on a variety of animal tumors was significantly higher than that of 5-FU. This product has synergistic effect with a variety of antitumor drugs.
