Cerium Stearate, also known as Cerium(III) Stearate, CAS 10119-53-6, EINECS 233-324-8, is a rare earth metal organic carboxylate compound. Its linear formula is $\boldsymbol{Ce(C_{18}H_{35}O_2)_3}$. It appears as white or off-white fine powder, insoluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol, soluble in hot aromatic solvents.

Cerium stearate is widely recognized as an efficient rare earth heat stabilizer for PVC. It can effectively capture HCl released during PVC thermal processing, suppress polymer chain degradation and discoloration, improve thermal aging resistance and process lubricity. It works well for transparent, semi-transparent and opaque PVC sheets, films, profiles and soft PVC goods. Compared with traditional stabilizers, cerium stearate brings better weather resistance and maintains good product clarity.

Besides PVC thermal stabilizer, cerium stearate serves multiple industrial applications: lubricant for plastic processing, paint & coating drier, textile waterproofing agent, and catalyst precursor.

SECTION 4: FIRST-AID MEASURES

4.1 First aid measures

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If cough/irritation persists, seek medical advice.
Skin contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and running water.
Eye contact: Flush eyes with plenty of running water for at least 10 minutes. Seek medical help if irritation remains.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Get medical attention if discomfort occurs.

4.2 Main symptoms: Dust causes mild mechanical irritation of nose, throat and eyes. No acute toxic symptoms.

4.3 Immediate medical care: Symptomatic treatment. No specific antidote.

5.1 Extinguishing media: Water spray, dry chemical powder, CO₂, foam.

5.2 Special hazards: Not flammable. Under strong heat, may release stearic acid vapour and cerium oxide fumes.

5.3 Advice for firefighters: Wear full protective gear and dust respirator if smoke/dust present.
