It is listed as a green solvent in the United States and the European Union as Non HAP/NAP (Non hazardous in the list of air pollution). It is typically used in water-based and cured coatings. It can be used as a substitute for N-methylpyrrolidone in the cleaning agent of the electronics industry. In addition, it can also be used to synthesize polyurethane.
