Introduction
Isopropyl Methylphenol (IPMP) also called o-cymen-5-ol,is an isomer of thymol and is the best replacement of triclosan. It is high stable and more safety when used in cosmetic, oral care products and other pharmaceutical products. IPMP is based on the active matter 4-isopropyl-3-methylphenol. This relatively new biocide is of natural origin. Its good solubility in alcohols and extremely low tendency to cause irritation makes it a preferred preservative for toothpastes and creams.
