DRONEDARONE HYDROCHLORIDE (brand name: Multaq) is an antiarrhythmic drug developed by Sanofi-Aventis. It was approved by the FDA in July 2009 for the treatment of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, reducing the risk of cardiovascular hospitalization in patients with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial flutter (AFL). The drug was developed to create a treatment that maintains the therapeutic benefits of amiodarone while reducing associated serious side effects such as pulmonary toxicity and thyroid dysfunction. DRONEDARONE HYDROCHLORIDE is usually administered orally in tablet form. The recommended dose is 400 mg twice daily, one tablet in the morning and one in the evening.Basic Info-
