Brief Introduction:

Beta-carotene (C40H56) is one of the carotenoids, an orange-yellow fat-soluble compound. It is the most ubiquitous and stable natural pigment in nature, which is a member of the natural chemical family(e.g. carotenes or carotenoids). It is found in large amounts in plants and gives fruits and vegetables their rich yellow and orange colors.

The appearance of the pure product is red-purple to dark red crystalline powder with a slight peculiar odor. The dilute solution of β-carotene is orange-yellow and is easily soluble in organic solvents such as methylene chloride, chloroform, and carbon disulfide.

Application Areas:

♔ Food Colorant:
First of all, β-carotene has good coloring properties, the coloring range is yellow and orange-red, it has strong coloring power and stable and uniform color, can coexist with K, Zn, Ca and other elements without discoloration, especially suitable for compatibility with children's food. It can also be used to color tablet sugar coatings, and its color and stability are superior to tartrazine, carmine, etc.

As an edible oil-soluble pigment, β-carotene can cover all colors from red to yellow depending on its concentration. It is very suitable for the development of oily products and protein-based products, and can be used as edible orange pigments and nutritional fortifiers, such as margarine, capsules, refined fish paste products, vegetarian products, instant noodles, etc. And after β-carotene is microencapsulated, it has good water solubility and can be used in almost all foods.

Beta-carotene can be used as raw materials and synthetic intermediates for drugs, such as the production of vitamin A raw materials and certain drugs.

♔ Cosmetic Field:
Beta-carotene is added to skin care products and cosmetics to provide color and antioxidant properties.

♔ Animal Feed:
β-carotene can also be used as an additive in animal feed, especially in poultry feed, to improve egg production performance and feather colour.
