Lime rosin, also known as calcium resin. Calcium soap containing partially unsaponified rosin is generated by the reaction of rosin acid from rosin with insufficient hydrated lime, which is completely dissolved in coal tar, lipid solvents, vegetable oils, and turpentine. The softening point is high, basically around 120 ℃, with an acid value of 80-100, resulting in a hard and glossy paint film. Early use in paint making

Calcium resinate is a grayish white to yellow amorphous powder which can be fused into grayish lumps. If it comes in contact with air, spontaneous heating may result. This heat may be sufficient to ignite the material itself or surrounding combustible material. It is insoluble in water.
