It differs from other ethers in that it forms only minute omounts of peroxides. It will dissolve such synthetic resins as nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate and propionate, ethyl cellulose, vinyl, ''Epons'' and polystyrene, and also many of the natural gums and waxes.
