-Product description-

Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic, belonging to the benzothiazole piperazine class of compounds. In vitro, it has a strong affinity for dopamine D2, D3, 5-HT2A, 5-HT2C, 5-HT1A, 5-HT1D, and α1-adrenergic receptors; and a moderate affinity for histamine H1 receptors. It has antagonistic effects on dopamine D1, D2, 5-HT2A, 5-HT1D, and agonistic effects on 5-HT1A receptors. It inhibits the reuptake of 5-HT and norepinephrine in the presynaptic membrane. The mechanism of Chemicalbook is not clear, probably through the combined antagonistic effect on dopamine D2 and 5-HT2 and produce anti-schizophrenia efficacy, its blocking strength is similar to that of risperidone and haloperidol, and is stronger than that of olanzapine, quetiapine and clozapine, and it is mainly used in acute or chronic, first-episode or recurrent schizophrenia, and is effective in both negative and positive symptoms of schizophrenia. Especially the negative symptoms are more effective. It can reduce the positive symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, abnormal thinking and action; also improve the negative symptoms such as emotional monotony, reduced volitional behavior.
