Description

Castor oil polyoxyethylene ether is a yellow viscous liquid that is resistant to hard water, acid, alkali and inorganic salts. It is used to emulsify and dissolve oil and other water-insoluble substances. It is a non-ionic solubilizer. It is used as a solubilizer and emulsifier for water-insoluble drugs or other fat-soluble drugs in semi-solid and liquid preparations.

Castor oil polyoxyethylene ether is also known as emulsifier EL-40, and its foreign trade name is Emulphor EL-620. It is a non-ionic surfactant. It is a light yellow transparent viscous liquid. It is easily soluble in water, and can also be soluble in oils, fatty acids and a variety of organic solvents. Its solubility in cold water is greater than that in hot water, and it has good emulsification properties for mineral oils. 1% aqueous solution pH = 6 ~ 8. HLB value 13. 1% aqueous solution turbidity point ≥ 85℃. It is resistant to acid, hard water and inorganic salts, and alkali at low temperatures, but strong alkali can hydrolyze it. Castor oil polyoxyethylene ether can be obtained by reacting castor oil with ethylene oxide under the catalysis of sodium hydroxide (or potassium). It is suitable for emulsification of various vegetable oils, mineral oils, fats, waxes, etc. It can also be used as a component of antistatic spinning oil for synthetic fibers such as polyacrylonitrile, pesticide emulsifier, wool combing agent "and wool oil".
