1、 Basic properties

2、 Production process
The production process of vinyl acetate mainly includes two methods: acetylene method and ethylene method:

Acetylene method: Acetylene and acetic acid are used as raw materials to react in the presence of a catalyst to produce vinyl acetate.
Acetylene method can be divided into liquid-phase method and gas-phase method, among which gas-phase method is more popular due to its high selectivity and fewer by-products.
However, the acetylene method has problems such as high cost and significant pollution.
Ethylene method: Ethylene, carbon monoxide, and methanol are used as raw materials to synthesize vinyl acetate through carbonylation reaction.
The ethylene method has the characteristics of compact device structure, high output, low energy consumption, and low pollution, and the product quality is relatively good. It has become the mainstream method for producing vinyl acetate.

3、 Main purpose
Vinyl acetate has a wide range of applications, mainly used in the following areas:

Manufacturing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA): Vinyl acetate is the main raw material for manufacturing polyvinyl alcohol, which is widely used in fields such as fibers, films, coatings, adhesives, etc.
Manufacture of polyvinyl acetate lotion (PVAc): lotion polymerization of vinyl acetate can be carried out to produce polyvinyl acetate lotion with good performance, which can be used as the raw material of adhesive and paint for wood wireless binding.
Co polymer fiber: Ethylene acetate and vinyl chloride can be copolymerized to produce co polymer fiber, which is used in the textile industry.
Solvent and coating: Vinyl acetate is also an excellent solvent and can be copolymerized with acrylic acid series monomers to produce advanced paints, coatings, etc.
