1. Basic information

2. Physical and chemical properties

Appearance: White to light yellow crystals or powder.

Melting point:>300 ℃, the melting point of relatively pure samples is between 319 ℃ and 322 ℃.

Solubility: Easy to dissolve in alkaline solution, soluble in dilute acid, almost insoluble in water, difficult to dissolve in alcohol.

Fluorescence characteristics: When neutral or slightly acidic solutions are exposed to ultraviolet light, they exhibit strong bright blue fluorescence.

3. Principle of chemiluminescence

Luminol can be oxidized by peroxides under alkaline conditions while emitting light. This reaction requires a catalyst, usually a multivalent metal ion, peroxidase such as iron, horseradish peroxidase, etc. Under the catalysis of iron compounds, hydrogen peroxide decomposes into oxygen and water, and oxygen oxidizes luminol to generate excited 3-amino-phthalic acid. When the excited 3-amino-phthalic acid returns to its ground state, it emits blue light.

4. Main purpose

Chemiluminescence analysis: It is a commonly used chemiluminescence reagent, commonly used in chemiluminescence immunoassay, which can detect metal cations, blood, glucose, etc.

Forensic identification: mainly used for blood testing in modern criminal investigation. Even if blood stains are wiped, residual hemoglobin in the blood can still cause luminol to react with it and emit blue purple fluorescence, which can detect blood levels of one millionth.

Biochemical research: can be used to detect the content of peroxides, heavy metals, peroxidase, as well as the derived detection of free radicals, toxicological analysis, and analysis methods based on peroxidase and glucose oxidase.
