THIXON™ P-11 is a high-performance, solvent-based primer designed for rubber-to-substrate bonding, particularly for polar elastomers such as nitrile rubber (NBR), AEM, and ACM. It can be used as a one-coat adhesive or in combination with MEGUM™ or THIXON™ cover coats for enhanced bonding performance.

Key Features:

• Gray-colored primer with excellent adhesion to metals and polar elastomers.

• Resistance to harsh environments: Bonds display resistance to humidity, corrosion, heat, salt fog, oil, and water.

• Versatile application: Suitable for brushing, dipping, or spraying.

• Excellent dry film stability: Coated inserts can be stored for several weeks if protected from contamination.

• Pre-bake resistance: Can withstand pre-baking at 160°C for 5-10 minutes without affecting bond quality.

Application:

• Mixing and Dilution: Use ketones like methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) or MEK for dilution. Dilution ratios vary based on application method:

  • Brushing: Apply undiluted.

  • Dipping: 1 part adhesive + 0.1 - 0.3 parts diluent.

  • Spraying: 1 part adhesive + 0.4 - 1.0 parts diluent.

• Drying Time: 30 minutes at room temperature, or 5 minutes at 80°C with forced drying.

• Recommended Film Thickness: 5 - 10 µm.

Theoretical Coverage:

• Approximately 18.5 m²/L at recommended film thickness.

Storage & Handling:

• Shelf Life: 24 months when stored in a cool, dry place below 25°C.

• Safety: Contains solvents – handle with care and ensure proper ventilation. Follow all local regulations and safety guidelines.
