Chemical properties: Colorless and transparent liquid that emits smoke. Has an unpleasant suffocating odor. It can be mixed with benzene, ether, chloroform, petroleum ether, carbon tetrachloride, tin tetrachloride, titanium tetrachloride, monochlorous and sulfur dichloride in any proportion. Application: Used for the synthesis of organic silicon compounds, inorganic silicon compounds, and the production of pure silicon. Used for the preparation of organic silicon compounds and for the use of smoke curtains in war. Tetrachlorosilane can be used in the manufacture of organic silicon compounds, such as silicates, organic silicone oils, high-temperature insulation paints, organic silicon resins, silicone rubber, and heat-resistant lining materials. High purity silicon tetrachloride is used as a material for manufacturing polycrystalline silicon, high-purity silicon dioxide, inorganic silicon compounds, and quartz fibers. Military industry is used to manufacture smoke screen agents. The metallurgical industry is used to manufacture corrosion-resistant ferrosilicon. Used as a mold release agent in the casting industry.
