Introduction
Iopromide, also known as Urografin or Iopamidol, is a non-ionic hypotonic contrast agent. It was launched in Switzerland in 1986. This product can reduce adverse reactions caused by high osmotic pressure. The solution is neutral, so it will not affect charged proteins and cell membrane structure, nor will it interfere with the body's electrolyte balance, thus having little impact on red blood cells, endothelial cells, and body fluids. Its advantages include: directly used for angiography with almost no pain; good tolerance of endothelial cells; mild adverse reactions; almost no effect on heart rhythm; does not reduce myocardial contractility; good tolerance of the nervous system; and the liquid can be orally administered without being absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. Injected into the blood vessels, it quickly distributes to extracellular fluid.

Pharmacokinetics
After intravenous injection for several minutes, the drug concentration in the kidneys reaches the peak, followed by that in the blood and liver, and the least in the muscles. It does not pass through the blood-brain barrier, but a small amount can pass through the placental barrier. After intravenous injection, if the renal function is good, the biological T1/2 of the drug in the blood is 3 minutes. All the contrast agents pass through the glomerular filtration and are excreted from the kidneys at 60% within 3 hours and 92% within 24 hours. About 2% is excreted from the feces after 6 days. A very small amount can be excreted from the breast milk.
