Cyclosporine, an immunosuppressant, is a lipophilic cyclic polypeptide compound isolated from the culture medium of certain Hyphomycetes fungi such as Cylindrocarponlucidum and Tolypocladiuminflatum. Since the 1980s, it has been widely used as an immunosuppressant worldwide and is now employed in the treatment of various tissue and organ transplants to prevent rejection and immune diseases.
Chemical properties
White needle-like crystals were obtained from acetone at -15℃, with a melting point of 148-151℃ and a temperature of [α]D20-244° C (C=0.6, chloroform). slightly soluble in water and saturated hydrocarbons.
