Tachlimus is a macrolide-type drug isolated from Streptomyces. It has a strong immunosuppressant effect, which can specifically bind to and inhibit calmodulin phosphatase activity, inhibit IL-2 signaling transcription, and thus inhibit T cell activation, TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 production, and T-cell-dependent B cell proliferation. Compared with cyclosporine, another calmodulin phosphatase inhibitor, tacrolimus inhibited T cell activation more strongly with fewer adverse effects.
