Product Overview
Propamocarb is a systemic fungicide with excellent preventive and curative properties, primarily used to control oomycete fungi such as Pythium, Phytophthora, and Peronospora species. It is especially effective against damping-off, root rot, and downy mildew in a wide variety of vegetable, ornamental, and turf crops.
Once absorbed by the plant, Propamocarb moves through the tissues, inhibiting fungal cell wall formation and enzyme activity, thereby halting the growth and spread of fungal infections. It is particularly valued for its safety to crops and minimal phytotoxicity.
Key Features
-
Highly effective against Oomycete fungi
-
Both protective and curative activity
-
Promotes healthier root development in young plants
-
Low phytotoxicity and crop-safe formulation
-
Compatible with other fungicides like metalaxyl, mancozeb, etc.
-
Suitable for use in greenhouses and open field cultivation
Target Crops and Applications
| Crop | Target Diseases |
| Tomatoes | Late blight, damping-off |
| Cucumbers | Downy mildew, root rot |
| Potatoes | Late blight |
| Lettuce | Downy mildew |
| Peppers | Phytophthora blight |
| Ornamental plants | Root rot, damping-off |
Mode of Action
Propamocarb acts by interfering with lipid and cell membrane synthesis in oomycete fungi. It inhibits the development of mycelium and the formation of spores, preventing the fungi from spreading within the plant. It also improves plant resistance by strengthening the cell walls.
