Description

Preparation Pour 10 mol of benzene into a 500 ml three-necked flask, add 200 ml of chloroform and 0.4 g of iron powder, stir to dissolve, place in an ice bath until the system is about 0°C, avoid light, slowly drop 35 mol of liquid bromine and 80 ml of chloroform mixture, react at room temperature for 10 hours, and a large amount of yellow-brown solid precipitates. After the reaction is completed, add saturated sodium bisulfite aqueous solution to remove excess unreacted bromine. The crude product is washed twice with saturated sodium bisulfite aqueous solution, dried, and purified by recrystallization to obtain a light yellow-brown powder. Properties 1,3,5-tribromobenzene is a light yellow crystalline solid. Use 1,3,5-tribromobenzene is an intermediate in pharmaceutical manufacturing and a key intermediate of 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene.
