LL37, also known as antimicrobial peptide LL-37, is a 37-amino acid at the N-terminal of Cathelicidin protein, named for its original amino acid L-L, and is the only antimicrobial peptide found in humans derived from Cathelicidin.
LL37 is the main protein in the special granules of neutrophils. It is synthesized and stored in neutrophils in the form of inactivated precursor protein. Ll37 is widely present in bone marrow, testis, neutrophils, monocytes, tongue, esophagus, cervix, vaginal squamous epithelial cells, and epithelial cells of skin, gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract.
