Polypropylene glycol (PPG), is a polyether compound derived from the polymerization of propylene oxide. It typically exists as a colorless to pale yellow, viscous liquid with a faint odor. PPG has the general formula HO(C₃H₆O)ₙH, where "n" indicates the number of repeating propylene oxide units, and its molecular weight can vary widely depending on the degree of polymerization. It is soluble in water and many organic solvents, showing hygroscopic properties. Chemically, it is stable under normal conditions, has low volatility, and displays low reactivity, although it may undergo oxidation or degradation at elevated temperatures.

They react with oxoacids and carboxylic acids to form esters plus water. Oxidizing agents convert them to aldehydes or ketones. Alcohols exhibit both weak acid and weak base behavior. They may initiate the polymerization of isocyanates and epoxides.
