Sodium Acrylate(7446-81-3)

Sodium polyacrylate, also known as 2-sodium acrylate homopolymer or S-sodium polyacrylate, is a commonly used dispersant. It is a colorless or light yellow viscous liquid at room temperature. It is non-toxic, weakly alkaline, and insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. It is readily soluble in water and aqueous sodium hydroxide solutions. However, in aqueous solutions of calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, it dissolves first and then precipitates as the amount of alkaline earth metal ions increases. It can operate without scaling under alkaline and medium-concentration chemical reduction conditions. With a molecular weight of approximately 500-3000, it can disperse microcrystals or sediments of salts such as calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate in water without precipitation, thereby achieving scale inhibition. In addition to its use as a scale inhibitor and dispersant in circulating cooling water systems such as power plants, chemical plants, fertilizer plants, refineries, and air conditioning systems, it is also widely used in the papermaking and textile printing and dyeing, ceramics, coatings, and building materials industries.
