Chemical Properties: Viscous, oily liquid with a strong acidic nature. Soluble in common organic solvents and alkalis, insoluble in water. Uses: Used as a solvent in chromatographic analysis and as an extractant for uranium and beryllium. Uses: Used as a rare earth metal extractant and a solvent for the production of surfactants. It functions as a rare earth metal extractant, a raw material for wetting agents and surfactants, and a plasticizer. It is moderately toxic and irritating to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. Uses: Used in the textile, printing and dyeing, and daily chemical industries. Production Method: 2-ethylhexanol is esterified with phosphorus oxychloride to form diisooctyl phosphate chloride. The chloride is hydrolyzed with alkali to produce the sodium salt, which is then acidified with sulfuric acid. 1. Esterification: In a glass-lined reaction kettle, add phosphorus oxychloride, stir, and cool. Add 2-ethyl alcohol dropwise at a temperature below 10°C. Continue stirring for 1 hour. Slowly raise the temperature to 20-45°C and expel hydrogen chloride for 3 hours. Then, raise the temperature to 45-50°C and pump out hydrogen chloride gas with a jet pump for 3 hours. Finally, raise the temperature to 50-60°C and expel hydrogen chloride gas under a vacuum of 80 kPa for 3 hours. 2. Hydrolysis: Add 20% liquid caustic soda to the hydrolysis kettle, stir, and then add the esterification product dropwise at a temperature below 60°C. Raise the temperature to 80-90°C, hold the temperature for 1 hour, let it stand for 15 minutes, and drain the wastewater below. Add 30% liquid caustic soda while stirring, raise the temperature to 120°C, reflux for 1 hour, let it stand for 15 minutes, and drain the caustic soda below for recovery. Wash the contents of the hydrolysis kettle with 3% alkaline water at 80-90°C before acidification. 3. Acidify the hydrolyzate by adding 10% sulfuric acid at 50-60°C for 1 hour. Discard the waste acid solution below. Wash with water. Finally, heat in a membrane separation tower to 110-120°C to remove water and low-boiling substances to obtain the finished product. Industrial purity ≥90%. Raw material consumption quota: 2-ethylhexanol 1100 kg/t, phosphorus oxychloride 590 kg/t.
