Description

Hydroxyquinine belongs to the quinoline alkaloid class of compounds. It is soluble in hot ethanol, slightly soluble in water and ether. Its hydrochloride salt is in the form of small flaky crystals, which are soluble in methanol and chloroform, slightly soluble in water or ethanol, and insoluble in acetic acid. It is an anti-arrhythmic drug, with effects similar to quinidine, and has a slightly lower oral toxicity than quinidine.

Hydroquinidine hydrochloride is also an important pharmaceutical intermediate. However, there are relatively few reports on its preparation methods at present. The existing methods have low product yields and high production costs. Hydroquinine-9-fenyl ether is a novel compound belonging to the quinoline alkaloid class of hydrogenated quinidine.
