- 78-59-1 - IntroductionIt has a camphor-like odor. It dimerizes upon exposure to light and oxidizes in air to form 4,4,6-trimethyl-1, cyclohexanedione. It is soluble in alcohol, ether and acetone, and miscible with most organic solvents. Solubility in water: 12 g/L (20°C). It may be carcinogenic. It has lachrymatory and irritant properties.
