L-Carnitine; CARNIFEED(R)

Carnitine is a type of B vitamin with a structure resembling amino acids, leading some to classify it as an amino acid. Its primary function is to help transport long-chain fatty acids for energy, preventing fat accumulation in the heart, liver, and skeletal muscles. Synthetically produced carnitine exists in three forms: L-carnitine, D-carnitine, and racemic carnitine, with L-carnitine showing the best effect. L-carnitine is a compound with multiple physiological activities. Its main functions include promoting fatty acid β-oxidation; regulating the acyl ratio within mitochondria and influencing energy metabolism; and participating in the transport of branched-chain amino acid metabolites, thus promoting the normal metabolism of branched-chain amino acids. Furthermore, L-carnitine plays a role in the elimination and utilization of ketone bodies, acts as a biological antioxidant to scavenge free radicals, maintain membrane stability, and enhance animal immunity and disease resistance. Recent studies have shown that L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine play important roles in energy metabolism within sperm mitochondria, scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and protecting sperm membrane function. Oral administration of L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine can increase the total number of progressively motile sperm and the total number of motile sperm in patients with oligospermia and asthenospermia, thereby increasing the clinical pregnancy rate in women, and is safe and effective.
