It is a white crystalline powder or granular with a density of 2.428g/cm3 and a melting point of 891 ℃. It is easily soluble in water, and the aqueous solution is alkaline. It is insoluble in ethanol, acetone, and ether. Potassium carbonate has strong hygroscopicity. When exposed to the air, it can absorb carbon dioxide and water, which can be converted into potassium bicarbonate. Potassium carbonate packaging should be sealed.
