    Product Introduction

    Item Cefprozil hydrate
    Cas No. 121123-17-9
    Purity >99

    1. Product Overview

    Cefprozil hydrate (CAS No.: 121123-17-9) is a second-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic with potent broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It presents as a white to off-white crystalline powder, characterized by high purity, excellent chemical stability under standard storage conditions and good water solubility. As a semi-synthetic β-lactam antibiotic, it has strong stability against most β-lactamases produced by pathogenic bacteria, with definite and lasting antibacterial efficacy and favorable clinical tolerability. It has enhanced antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria compared with first-generation cephalosporins, while maintaining a strong inhibitory effect on gram-positive bacteria, and is widely used in clinical treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections. Our Cefprozil hydrate is produced in strict compliance with GMP standards, with a purity level of ≥99% (HPLC), ensuring stable and reliable product performance for pharmaceutical production, scientific research and other professional applications.

    2. Mechanism of Action

    Cefprozil hydrate exerts its bactericidal effect by specifically inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the cytoplasmic membrane of sensitive bacteria, which interferes with the cross-linking reaction of peptidoglycan chains during bacterial cell wall formation, leading to defective and fragile bacterial cell wall construction. Eventually, the bacteria lose their osmotic pressure balance, swell and rupture, thus achieving the purpose of killing sensitive bacteria. It has a broad bactericidal spectrum and strong antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

    3. Core Functions & Antibacterial Spectrum

    Broad-spectrum high-efficiency antibacterial activity: It has a strong inhibitory and killing effect on a variety of clinically common pathogenic bacteria, including Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis and other susceptible strains.

    Excellent β-lactamase resistance: It is highly stable to most β-lactamases produced by gram-negative bacteria and partial gram-positive bacteria, and has a significant therapeutic effect on infections caused by β-lactamase-producing drug-resistant strains.

    Low toxicity and good clinical tolerability: It has little impact on the normal flora of the human body, with mild and rare adverse reactions. The adverse reactions are mostly mild gastrointestinal discomfort and occasional mild skin reactions, which are reversible and have no obvious toxic and side effects on important organs at the recommended dosage.

    Good oral absorption: As an oral cephalosporin antibiotic, it has good oral bioavailability, rapid absorption in the gastrointestinal tract and stable blood drug concentration, which is convenient for clinical administration.

    4. Application Scope

    Clinically, it is mainly used for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by sensitive bacterial strains, covering multiple systemic infections, and is also the core pharmaceutical raw material for the production of various oral cephalosporin preparations:

    Respiratory tract infections: Pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis acute attack, community-acquired pneumonia and other upper and lower respiratory tract infections.

    Urinary system infections: Cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis and other urinary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria.

    Skin and soft tissue infections: Folliculitis, cellulitis, erysipelas, traumatic wound infections and other skin and soft tissue bacterial infections.

    Other infections: Acute otitis media, maxillary sinusitis and other otorhinolaryngological infections caused by susceptible strains.

    Pharmaceutical production: It is the key raw material for the production of Cefprozil oral preparations such as Cefprozil tablets, capsules and dry suspensions.

    5. Usage Precautions & Adverse Reactions

    Adverse Reactions: The adverse reactions of this product are mild and rare, and the incidence is low. The most common adverse reactions are mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, mild abdominal pain and loss of appetite; occasional skin allergic reactions such as rash, pruritus and urticaria, which can be relieved after drug withdrawal; rare adverse reactions include headache, dizziness, mild elevated transaminase, which are temporary and reversible.

    Contraindications: It is strictly contraindicated for patients with a history of allergic reaction to Cefprozil hydrate, other cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillins.

    Special Populations: Pregnant women should use it with caution only when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the potential risk; the drug can be secreted into breast milk, so lactating women should suspend breastfeeding during the medication period; the dosage should be adjusted according to age and weight for pediatric patients, and the medication should be guided by a pediatrician; for patients with renal insufficiency, the dosage should be reduced according to the degree of renal function damage and the blood drug concentration should be monitored if necessary.

    Drug Interactions: Concurrent use with probiotic preparations may reduce the activity of probiotics, and the interval between medications is recommended to be more than 2 hours; combined use with nephrotoxic drugs such as aminoglycoside antibiotics and diuretics may increase the risk of renal damage, and joint use should be avoided or renal function should be closely monitored; it is not recommended to use it with alcohol-containing drugs or alcohol during medication to avoid disulfiram-like reactions.

    Other Precautions: In case of severe allergic reaction such as anaphylactic shock during medication, immediate drug withdrawal and emergency treatment measures should be taken; if the infection symptoms are not relieved or aggravated during the medication period, the pathogenic bacteria should be rechecked and the treatment plan should be adjusted in time.

    6. Storage Conditions

    Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, high temperature and open fire;

    Strictly control the storage temperature between 2℃ and 8℃, and freezing is strictly prohibited to avoid product performance damage;

    Keep the inner and outer packages tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption, oxidation, deliquescence and microbial contamination of the product;

    Store separately from toxic, harmful, corrosive and incompatible substances, and avoid mixed storage and transportation;

    The shelf life is 24 months under the specified storage conditions; do not use the product if the expiration date on the package is exceeded;

    During transportation, take anti-shock, anti-pressure and temperature control measures to ensure that the transportation environment meets the storage temperature requirements.
