Turkish red oil is an anionic surfactant, also known as sulfonated castor oil or sulfurized castor oil. It is a pale yellow to brown transparent liquid, a type of sulfonated oil, and is an excellent anionic surfactant and an important pesticide emulsifier. It has wide applications in textile printing and dyeing, wool lubrication, leather making, metal processing, and wire drawing cooling. It is widely used in textiles, papermaking, printing and dyeing finishing and dispersing, and can also be used as an emulsifier and coolant in the metal cutting and wire drawing industry, as well as a pesticide emulsifier. Characteristics: 1. Turkish red oil is easily soluble in water, forming an emulsion, and will deteriorate upon exposure to air; 2. It has excellent chemical and penetrating power, but does not easily precipitate in hard water; 3. Turkish red oil has better acid resistance, resistance to metal salts, and wetting power than soap. Applications: Turkish red oil (sulfonated castor oil) has dispersing, lubricating, and emulsifying properties. It is mainly used as an oiling agent for fiber fabrics, a dyeing auxiliary, a fiber treatment agent, and a smoothing agent. It is also used as an emulsifier for pesticides and in metal processing. Sulfonated castor oil used in paper coatings requires imparting good flowability and coatability to the coating, improving its water retention, and controlling the migration and penetration of the coating liquid to the base paper surface to enhance the bonding strength between the coating and the base paper. Extraction Process: 100 parts castor oil are added to a sulfonation reactor, and 20-25 parts concentrated sulfuric acid are added dropwise at 35-45°C with stirring. After the sulfuric acid is added, stirring continues for 2-3 hours. When the sulfonated liquid becomes a thick foam, a few drops can be taken into a small cup and dispersed in water to form a transparent liquid. Washing is then performed. First, wash with warm water at 40-50°C, then neutralize with a Na₂CO₃ solution at 10-15°C to obtain Turkish red oil. Usage: Turkish red oil can be diluted or added undiluted. The dosage should be determined after testing, depending on the intended use. Chemical Properties: Appearance: Brownish-yellow oily liquid; forms a stable emulsion with water. It is an anionic surfactant. It is resistant to hard water and soap, exhibiting excellent wetting and penetrating properties. More acid-resistant than soap, it does not produce sodium hydroxide upon hydrolysis. Uses: Fatliquoring agent for various light leathers. Toughening agent for casein finishing agents. Surfactant. Applications: Widely used in textiles, printing and dyeing, leather making, papermaking, metal processing, etc. It can also be used as a pesticide emulsifier and a lubricant for steel wire drawing. Main Uses: Primarily used for fatliquoring chrome-tanned leather, it penetrates evenly into the leather, making it fuller and softer. Performance and Uses: Possesses excellent leveling, penetrating, and emulsifying properties, widely used in textiles, printing and dyeing, leather making, papermaking, metal processing, dyeing, and chemical industries. It can also be used as an emulsifier in pesticides, a lubricant in steel wire drawing, an oiling agent in synthetic fibers, and in the leather and paper industries. Indicators: SuQHG-80-34 Enterprise Standard (This Enterprise Standard) Uses: Mainly used as an oiling agent for fiber fabrics, dyeing auxiliary, fiber treatment agent, smoothing agent, and also as a pesticide emulsifier and metal processing emulsifier.
