1. Description

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the amino acid sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro; it is a synthetic analog of the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin. It appears as a white lyophilized powder with a molecular weight of approximately 751.87 Da. It is readily soluble in water; it is recommended to reconstitute it with sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/mL. It should be stored at -20°C in a lyophilized state. Once reconstituted, it should be used within 2–7 days. This compound possesses various biological activities, including anxiolytic, nootropic, and immunomodulatory effects, and was approved in Russia in 2008 for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.

2. Application

(1) Research on Anxiety Disorders: Used in studies of anxiety-related conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder and adjustment disorder. Clinical studies have shown that symptoms in some patients improve significantly within 1–3 days of treatment, with total scores on the Hamilton Anxiety Scale dropping from 20.3 to 7.0.
