Flumequine (CAS number: 42835-25-6) is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibacterial drug. Its molecular formula is C14H12FNO3. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase to block nucleic acid synthesis, and has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria and some Gram-positive bacteria. It is suitable for treating respiratory diseases in livestock, hemorrhagic diseases and enteritis caused by Aeromonas in aquatic animals, and is listed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as an approved aquatic animal drug for use.
Product Features:
(1) The effect is excellent. It not only kills common G+G- bacteria, but also has specific effects on gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections.
(2) It is less likely to cause cross-resistance. Gram-negative bacteria are highly sensitive to this product. There is no cross-resistance with tetracycline-like, sulfaquinoxaline-like, and erythromycin-like drugs. There is partial cross-resistance with quinolone drugs.
(3) The residue is small. For pigs, only a 3-day drug suspension is required; for chickens and fish, only a 2-day suspension is needed.
(4) The safety range is wide. There are no adverse reactions. Even if the dosage is doubled, poisoning will not occur. The LD50 of fluoromycin for river eels after oral administration is above 7.94 grams per kilogram. The LD50 of fluoromycin for freshwater prawns immersed in water is above 1000 milligrams per liter. The LD50 of fluoromycin in mice experiments is 500 to 1000 milligrams per kilogram. According to the new general toxicity method and toxicity classification of veterinary drugs issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, fluoromycin belongs to low toxicity and is safe for aquatic animals and livestock.
(5) Oral absorption is good. When fluoromycin is administered orally, 90% of the given dose is absorbed by the intestine. The blood drug concentration reaches its peak within 2 to 4 hours. 90% of it is excreted within 168 hours. About 55% is excreted through urine, and 35% through feces. After fluoromycin is absorbed into the body, the main metabolite is fluoromycin, accounting for 80%, and the hydroxylated metabolite is 10 to 20%.
