Description

Polyethylene (abbreviated as PE) is currently the most produced high-quality polymer material, and polyethylene plastic ranks first in the world's total plastic production. Low-density polyethylene is mainly used in soft products such as films and coatings. High-density polyethylene is mainly used for making hard products such as bottles and boxes. It can also be made into fibers (known as ethylene) for the production of fishing nets, ropes, etc. Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has a series of excellent comprehensive properties, such as good resistance to environmental stress cracking, low moisture absorption, fatigue resistance, and high impact resistance. It can be used as wear-resistant and impact-resistant components in textile machinery, such as knots, gears, and washers.

The use of different density polyethylene separately as follows:

low density is used to make packaging film greenhouse film;
Medium density is used to make glass, baskets and bucket, etc.;

High density is used for production of industrial products, suchas gear, CAM, gasket and automatic drop hammer, etc.

Due to the wide application of polyethylene, it has become the plastic with the largest production volume. Its major drawback is that it is difficult to bond with adhesives. In addition, copolymerization can be utilized to endow the resin with viscoelasticity and form synthetic rubber. This copolymer includes: EVA resin (a copolymer of polyethylene and vinyl acetate); EEA resin (a copolymer of polyethylene and ethyl acrylate) and EMA resin (a copolymer of polyethylene and methyl acrylate), etc.
