Unnatural amino acids (UAAs) refer to amino acids that do not exist in nature, are not encoded by standard genetic codons, or are artificially synthesized. They do not participate in the biosynthesis of natural proteins, but can be selectively introduced into proteins through gene codon extension techniques, thereby endowing proteins with new chemical or physical properties.
