      Product Detail

    CAS No.: 23850-94-4

Monobutyltriisooctanoate (STI) is a highly efficient organotin catalyst, playing a vital role in chemical synthesis due to its excellent hydrolytic stability and catalytic activity.

    Physical Properties

Appearance: Pale yellow to colorless, transparent, viscous liquid. Density: Approximately 1.10 g/cm³ (25°C).

Flash Point: High (typically >150°C), exhibiting good thermal stability.

Tin Content: Theoretical tin content is approximately 19.5% ± 0.5%.

    Chemical Uses
STI is primarily used as a catalyst for esterification and polycondensation reactions. Specific applications include:

    1. Esterification and Polycondensation Catalyst: It is an excellent catalyst for the synthesis of polyester resins (saturated and unsaturated polyesters) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT). Advantages: The reaction temperature is typically between 180°C and 230°C, and this catalyst effectively shortens the reaction time. 1. Low residual impact: No filtration is required after the reaction, resulting in minimal impact on the color and transparency of the final product.

    2. Polyurethane (PU) synthesis: Used in the production of polyurethane coatings and elastomers to promote the crosslinking reaction between isocyanates and hydroxyl groups. It increases curing speed, especially suitable for systems requiring high thermal stability.

    3. Coatings and inks: Used in the production of high-performance coil coatings, insulating varnishes, and powder coatings. It ensures that the resin maintains good chemical stability and physical properties during high-temperature baking.

    4. Organosilicon crosslinking: In certain specific organosilicon condensation reactions, it can also act as a co-catalyst to promote the room temperature vulcanization (RTV) process.
