What is Glucosyl Hesperidin ? Hesperidin is naturally in Citrus fruit,lemon and oranges . however, its poor solubility results in limited bioavailability. In contrast, glucosyl hesperidin is a compound formed by the linkage of glucose and hesperidin via a glycosidic bond. Glucosyl hesperidin exhibits significantly improved water solubility (up to 50 mg/ml), strong thermal stability, and is more readily absorbed and metabolised by the gut.
Production Method :
Glucosyl Hesperidin is also know as α -glucosyl hesperidin,It is produced using hesperidin derived from citrus fruits and dextrin as raw materials. The synthesis involves an enzyme-catalysed process in which hesperidin acts as the glycosyl acceptor and starch, dextrin or cyclodextrin as the glycosyl donors. A glycosylation reaction takes place under the catalysis of a glycosyltransferase or glycosidase, followed by purification, filtration, concentration and drying. This process significantly enhances its water solubility and improves its bioavailability.

In Jan,31th,2025, the European Commission adopted Regulation (EU) 2025/167, authorising the placing on the market of glucosyl hesperidin as a novel food for use in soft drinks, energy drinks, dietary supplements and other products.

1) Prevention of Cataracts
Research has found that glucosyl hesperidin can help prevent cataracts. In vivo experiments have shown that glucosyl hesperidin can delay the onset of selenite-induced cataracts by modulating selenite-induced cell death in lens epithelial cells.
2) Prevention of Obesity
Glucosyl hesperidin can reduce the accumulation of body fat by regulating lipid metabolism, thereby aiding weight management. A study by Nishikawa demonstrated that glucosyl hesperidin exerts its anti-obesity effects by inducing the formation of brown-like adipocytes.
