DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE – Feed Additive / Food Additive | CAS 7757-93-9

    Product Overview

Dicalcium Phosphate (CAS: 7757-93-9) is an inorganic compound widely used as a dietary supplement, feed additive, and food additive. It provides highly bioavailable calcium and phosphorus, essential nutrients for bone development, metabolic functions, and overall health in humans and animals.

Dicalcium Phosphate is also known as DCP, Calcium Hydrogen Phosphate, Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Calcium Phosphate Dibasic, and Calcium Monohydrogen Phosphate.

    CAS Number 7757-93-9
    Molecular Formula CaHPO4
    Molecular Weight 136.06 g/mol
    MDL Number MFCD00010909
    EINECS Number 231-826-1
HS Code 2835.25 (Feed grade / Food grade)

    Product Description

Dicalcium Phosphate is a white, odorless, tasteless crystalline powder or granule. It is practically insoluble in water but soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. As a source of both calcium and phosphorus, DCP plays a vital role in animal nutrition, preventing deficiencies such as rickets, poor bone mineralization, and reduced growth rates.

This product is available in various grades: feed grade, food grade, and pharmaceutical grade. It is manufactured through a controlled reaction of phosphoric acid with calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide, followed by drying, milling, and screening to achieve consistent particle size.

    Applications

    Animal Feed

Dicalcium Phosphate is the most widely used source of digestible calcium and phosphorus in livestock, poultry, aquaculture, and pet food. It improves feed conversion ratio, enhances eggshell quality in layers, prevents leg weakness in broilers, and supports skeletal growth in swine, cattle, and fish.

    Food Industry

As a food additive (E341ii), DCP acts as a leavening agent, dough conditioner, and mineral supplement. It is commonly found in bakery products, cereals, flour tortillas, pancake mixes, infant formulas, and vitamin tablets. It also serves as an anti-caking agent in powdered food products.

    Pharmaceutical

Used as a tablet filler and binder in the manufacture of dietary supplements and pharmaceutical tablets. Its excellent compression properties and compatibility with active ingredients make it a preferred excipient.

    Other Uses

    • Toothpaste abrasive agent

    • Plastic stabilizer

    • Fertilizer component
