Product Detail

Glycyrrhizic Acid, also known as glycyrrhizin or licorice saponin, is the primary active ingredient in the rhizome of licorice (a plant of the Fabaceae family), accounting for approximately 3%–11% of the dry weight.

Molecular Formula: C₄₂H₆₂O₁₆

Molecular Weight: 822.93

Appearance: White crystalline powder, odorless and extremely sweet (200–250 times sweeter than sucrose).

Structure: A pentacyclic triterpenoid saponin, composed of one molecule of glycyrrhetinic acid and two molecules of glucuronic acid.

Melting Point: 212–217℃

Solubility: Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water; insoluble in oils and fats.

Stability: Stable against heat, alkalis and salts; prone to precipitation when pH is below 3.

Taste: Slow-onset sweetness with a long aftertaste and unique licorice flavor.
