     Product Characteristics

    1. Formic Acid, also known as Methanoic Acid, CAS 64-18-6, is the simplest aliphatic carboxylic acid and an important basic industrial organic acid supplied by our factory with stable industrial grade specifications. It appears as colorless transparent liquid with sharp irritating odor, infinitely miscible with water, ethanol and glycerol. Formic acid possesses both acidity and strong reducing property, which distinguishes it from other carboxylic acids. It can participate in esterification, neutralization, oxidation and reduction reactions under different reaction conditions, and serves as a fundamental raw material in numerous industrial production chains.
In leather industry, formic acid is widely adopted as tanning auxiliary and pH regulator. It helps adjust the acidity of tanning liquor, promote uniform penetration of tanning agents into animal hides, improve leather softness, grain smoothness and finished leather quality. For textile printing and dyeing sector, it works as dyeing auxiliary and acidulant to stabilize dye bath pH, enhance color fastness and reduce uneven dyeing defects. In rubber manufacturing, formic acid acts as high-efficiency latex coagulant for natural latex and synthetic latex, realizing rapid and uniform rubber coagulation. Besides, it can be applied in pesticide synthesis, electroplating industry, cleaning agent production and mineral processing.
Our industrial grade formic acid adopts mature synthesis and purification process. We strictly monitor concentration, sulfuric acid impurities, chloride, heavy metals and evaporation residue indicators during production to guarantee stable quality for downstream customers. The product is classified as UN1779 Class 8 corrosive dangerous goods. We use anti-corrosion standard export plastic drum packaging, equipped with complete dangerous goods labels, MSDS and COA to meet international sea transportation and customs clearance requirements.
We maintain continuous stable production capacity and sufficient regular inventory. Small sample trial orders and large-volume long-term cooperation orders are both welcome. Professional dangerous goods logistics solutions can be arranged to guarantee safe and punctual delivery to global ports.
Safety Notice: Formic acid is corrosive and irritant to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Store in cool, ventilated warehouse, separated from oxidants, strong alkalis. Operators must wear full set of acid-resistant protective equipment.

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Formic acid, or methanoic acid, is the first member of the homologous series identified as fatty acids with the general formula RCOOH. Formic acid was obtained first from the red ant; itscommon name is derived from the family name for ants, Formi- cidae. This substance also occurs naturally in bees and wasps, and is presumed to be responsible for the "sting" of these insects.
Formic acid has a pungent, penetrating odor. It may be synthesized from anhydrous sodium formate and concentrated H2
