Product Overview

Azure II (CAS 37247-10-2) is a synthetic thiazine dye used primarily as a biological stain. It is a dark blue to blue-black powder that is soluble in water. Azure II is commonly used in histology and cytology for staining cellular components, particularly in combination with eosin for blood smear staining. It is supplied as Biological Stain grade.

Synthetic Process

Azure II is synthesized through the oxidation of methylene blue or related thiazine compounds, followed by purification to obtain the desired staining properties.
